ecoMECH - Construction Mechanical Design Documentation, ESD advise and Energy Modelling for Green Star As-Built & NABERS predictions and assessments.

The project involves the construction of a 10 level 17,000sqm PCA Grade-A Commercial Office Tower above 25,000sqm over 4 levels of basement car park. In addition to a new 14 bay Bus Interchange Facility and an additional 8,000sqm above ground deck to the existing Myer Carpark. The Commercial Tower is designed to achieve a 5 Star Green Star Design & As-built Rating, and 4.5 Star NABERS Energy rating. ecoMECH have taken a lead role in the predictive energy modelling for the As-Built Green Star and NABERS assessments to ensure that the completed building complies with the these project requirements. ecoMECH have worked hand in hand with services consultant Norman Disney and Young who provided the original mechanical, original energy modelling, fire, hydraulic, electrical, communication and security designs for the project.

ANZ is a global banking organisation, facing the challenges of supporting regional growth and operational innovation. Through the development of a Global Data Centre Strategy, a number of key initiatives have been identified to meet ANZ's requirements, including the development of long-term solutions at ANZ's main regional Data Centres in Australia. Currently ANZ is embarking on an expansion program to construct and operate new purpose-built Data Centre facilities at their existing premises in Melbourne, Victoria. ecoMECH are working alongside services consultant AURECON and peer review consultant Wood & Grieve Engineers to ensure that the relevant project critical design features are achieved.

  • Designed to comply with the requirement for a Tier 3 facility as defined by the Uptime Institute white paper, 'Tier Classifications Define Site Infrastructure Performance' and Section 8 of ANSI/TIA 942-1 (2012), 'Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Centres'.

Leicester Street Student Accommodation (LSSA) is Melbourne University latest student accommodation facility in Carlton. The building stands at 15 levels at 49 metres in height and comprises in addition to its 648 beds in apartment style accommodation of multiple retail spaces, lounges and common room spaces, a large terrace and swimming pool radiate away from a central pedestrian spine which runs to a village square, secure access and staff support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The building has been design around achieving a 5 Green Star Sustainability Design Rating. Features such as high performance insulation and glazing systems, solar panels, cross ventilation assisted by a thermal chimney, and high efficiency fixtures and fittings have been incorporated into the design to achieve this important environmental rating.

The new building includes: New Administrative areas, several education spaces including a new lecture theatre, approximately 2000sqm of new exhibition space which will house one of the last surviving Devanha Landing Boats.
The new exhibition space consists of critical environment control to maintain temperature and humidity within the strict lending requirements of other world class museums, crucial to the preservation of the artefacts.
Comprehensive energy modelling has also been conducted to help predict future running costs and provide construction life cycle cost analyses.
